Quinceañera photography

Quinceañera photography is 300 minutes of event coverage for a girl’s fifteenth-birthday celebration, known in Mexico as XV años, priced from $900. The five hours follow the day in order: the last part of getting ready, the thanksgiving Mass, portraits outside the church with parents and padrinos, the entrance to the reception, the waltz with the chambelanes, the toast, and as much of the party as the hours allow. The result is 300 edited photos, delivered within 4 weeks.

About this session

Five hours, from the Mass to the surprise dance

The schedule is built with the family or the event planner, because every quinceañera arranges the traditions differently. Some families include the change of shoes, the last doll or a candle ceremony; some put the father-daughter waltz before dinner and the surprise dance after it. Placing each moment on a timeline tells the photographer when to be at the church, when to move to the salón, and where the five hours should end, which is usually just after the surprise dance.

Each parish sets its own rules for photographers during Mass, including where to stand, whether flash is allowed and whether a fee applies, so the family should ask the parish office before the date. The photographer follows the priest’s instructions and works without flash when asked. At the reception, the planner and the DJ are the people to coordinate with, because lighting, smoke machines and the order of the program decide what can be photographed well.

A sesión previa, the portrait session many families hold days before the party in a garden, hacienda or historic street, is a separate booking so it does not reduce the five hours of the celebration. A short portrait session in the dress before the Mass fits within the 300 minutes. For relatives abroad who search for quinceañera photography from the United States or Canada, the same service covers celebrations held in any of the Mexican destinations on this site.

Questions about quinceañera photography

What does quinceañera photography cover in five hours?

Quinceañera photography covers 300 minutes on the day: typically the last part of getting ready, the thanksgiving Mass, portraits outside the church, the entrance to the reception and the waltz with the chambelanes. If the party runs late, the five hours are placed where the family wants them, usually ending after the surprise dance.

Can the photographer work inside the church during the quinceañera Mass?

Each parish in Mexico sets its own rules for photographers during a quinceañera Mass, such as where to stand, whether flash is allowed, and whether a fee applies. Ask the parish office before the date; the quinceañera photographer follows whatever the priest asks and works without flash if required.

Is a sesión previa included in quinceañera photography?

Quinceañera photography includes the 300 minutes of the celebration day, which can open with a short portrait session in the dress before the Mass. A separate sesión previa on another date, in a garden, hacienda or historic street, is booked as its own session so the five hours of the party are not reduced.

How long does the quinceañera gallery take?

The quinceañera gallery is delivered within 4 weeks of the celebration, with 300 edited photos, because a five-hour event with a Mass, a waltz and a party needs careful selection and colour work. Families who need a few pictures sooner, for example for a thank-you message, should say so when booking.
